Dee Nolan is the founder of Nolans Road Organics. She is the third generation Nolan to farm at Gum Park near Naracoorte in South Australia’s Limestone Coast.
She and her husband, John Southgate, produce certified organic* extra virgin olive oil and breed Southdown sheep. They also have an extensive vineyard. The farm was established by Dee’s grandfather a century ago and it is where Dee grew up before embarking on an award-winning international career as a journalist and editor. She has worked in senior editorial roles for some of the world’s leading newspapers and magazines in Melbourne, Sydney, London and New York. Her first book, A Food Lover’s Pilgrimage Along the Camino to Santiago de Compostela, was recognised in the 2010 Gourmand World Cooks Awards as one of the Best Culinary Travel Books in the World. The book was the culmination of four years of research and travel by Dee. Her second book, A Food Lover’s Pilgrimage Through France To Santiago De Compostela, was published by Penguin in October 2014.
